Arborist Central Coast takes enquiries about trees on home blocks from Umina Beach to Lake Munmorah and refers each one to an independent local provider, who looks at the tree and quotes. Removing or heavily pruning any tree 3 metres or taller needs a Central Coast Council permit unless an exemption applies, and the provider should tell you which applies before quoting.

What this site does, and what the provider does

  • One provider, not a list Your enquiry goes to a single independent provider working the Central Coast. It is not sold to several tree businesses at once.
  • The permit usually comes first A tree 3 metres or taller generally needs Council's permit before it is removed or cut back hard. Council usually inspects within 10 working days of receiving an application.
  • Ask for proof of cover SafeWork NSW suggests asking a tree work contractor for a certificate of currency before work starts. This site holds no insurance for tree work and vouches for nobody's.
  • The price isn't ours This site neither sets nor quotes a price. The provider works one out after seeing the tree, the access and what has to be carted away.

Tree Removal across the Central Coast

One council's rules cover every suburb on this site. Central Coast Council counts as a tree anything 3 metres tall, or with a trunk 75 millimetres across at 1.4 metres above the ground, and its permit costs $245 for up to two trees in 2026-27, plus $129.50 for each extra tree, excluding GST. Some removals need no permit: dead trees, and species on Council's Undesirable Species List such as camphor laurel and the cocos palm, provided the landowner keeps an arborist's written record for six months. Street trees are Council's to prune, and a Council tree that falls onto private land is removed by Council at no charge.
