Tree Removal in Lake Munmorah
Munmorah State Conservation Area lies inside Lake Munmorah's boundary, and Council's tree chapter does not apply on its land, which is zoned for national parks and nature reserves. For homes backing onto it, a tree over the fence is a matter for the National Parks and Wildlife Service, not a private job.

Tree Removal around Lake Munmorah
NPWS describes eucalypt woodland and rainforest in the northern part of the reserve, home to the vulnerable squirrel glider, and bush fire prone land is mapped along the bushland edge. That makes a 10/50 check worth doing for a lot near the reserve, though the rule never extends onto reserve land. The RFS online tool gives the answer for your parcel on the day, and it is worth keeping a copy of the result.
The State's Biodiversity Values Map also covers parts of the suburb, including a small area of coastal wetland, and on that land Council's tree chapter does not apply to removals; approval comes through the state's biodiversity offsets scheme instead. Checking the public map before applying avoids lodging with the wrong authority.
Permits and Central Coast Council rules
Away from the reserve and the mapped land, a Lake Munmorah tree 3 metres or taller needs Council's permit unless an exemption applies. Hollows change that: a tree with hollows suitable for possums, gliders or bats counts as a habitat tree, and the exemptions for dead or nearby trees do not apply to a habitat tree for threatened fauna.
