Tree Removal prices on the Central Coast

This site doesn't set or quote prices; the independent provider does, after seeing the tree. The prices fixed in advance are Council's own: a permit of $245 for up to two trees in 2026-27, excluding GST, and, where a crane or traffic control is involved, road fees such as $218.05 to apply to occupy the road.

What moves a quote

Room changes the method. A tree with two tree lengths of clear ground around it can be felled whole, while one beside the house comes down in sections or with a crane. On a Council road that brings Council's road fees into the job: in 2026-27 an application to occupy the road for the work costs $218.05, standing a crane or heavy machinery on the road reserve costs $350.00 per day per lane, and a temporary road closure application costs $484.20. Council says a straightforward road occupancy application is usually processed within ten to fifteen working days, and it will not approve one for a State road, where the application goes to Transport for NSW instead. Power lines can bring in an Accredited Service Provider to isolate the supply, which is a second trade. Then there is the wood: Council's tip takes garden organics at $197.78 a tonne in 2026-27, a stump bigger than a cubic metre is special waste at $613.30 a tonne, and pieces no wider than 30 centimetres can go out in a free bulk kerbside collection.

Before you agree to a price

SafeWork NSW suggests a written quote showing the business's ABN, contact details, the work and the costs, and a certificate of currency for its insurance. Agree any extra trees or stumps before they are done, because a business can't demand payment for work you didn't order. The home-building rules on written contracts and deposits don't reach tree work, so the written quote is the document you rely on. Ask whether the quote includes Council's road fees and the tip charge, since a quote that leaves them out is not pricing the same job. And a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more is its own class of high risk work at SafeWork NSW, so it is fair to ask whether the operator of a big platform holds that class.

Costs and fees by service

The only dollar figures on this page are Council's own, read from its Fees and Charges 2026/27 schedule on 25 September 2026. The schedule covers the 2026-2027 financial year, so ask Council which fee applies on the day you lodge. A fee for replacing a Council tree removed from public land starts at $349 plus GST, while removing a fallen Council tree from private land carries no charge.
