Tree Removal in Narara
Six trees and tree groups in Narara are heritage-listed, all of them on Gugandi Road, among them a turpentine, a group of hoop pines and a pecan plantation. A tree that is, or is part of, a heritage item sits outside Council's ordinary exemptions, and work on it goes to Council's Heritage Officer first. For any other Narara tree the usual rules apply.

Tree Removal around Narara
Central Coast Local Environmental Plan 2022 lists them as local heritage items: a specimen turpentine, a group of hoop pines, a pecan plantation, a row of Callery pears, a group of bald cypress, and a single Callery pear of a named strain. Council's heritage page says its tree chapter does not apply to heritage-listed trees and that any work on them needs separate approval from its Heritage Officer, and its planning rules ask for a heritage consultant's report with such an application.
Bush fire prone land is mapped in parts of Narara, so an owner here may fall inside a 10/50 entitlement area. The RFS online tool decides that for each lot on the day of clearing, and where local heritage is involved it sets conditions on the clearing rather than simply allowing it.
Permits and Central Coast Council rules
For a Narara tree that is not heritage-listed, Council's permit applies once it reaches 3 metres or a 75-millimetre trunk at 1.4 metres, unless an exemption fits: a dead tree, one within 3 metres of an approved building, a species on the Undesirable Species List, or pruning of no more than 10% of the foliage on branches up to 50 millimetres. A heritage item never qualifies for any of those.
