Tree Removal in Bateau Bay
Part of Bateau Bay's boundary runs along Wyrrabalong National Park, so for homes on that edge the first question about a big tree over the back fence is whether it stands on park land. If it does, it is not the owner's to remove, and the bushfire 10/50 rule does not extend onto national park land.

Tree Removal around Bateau Bay
NPWS describes Wyrrabalong as conserving the last patch of coastal rainforest on the Central Coast, beside a red gum forest, and the park's walks include the Red Gum trail and Crackneck Point lookout. State vegetation mapping shows red gum grassy forest and coastal apple and blackbutt forest inside the suburb. The practical point is the boundary: a limb from a park tree hanging over a yard is a question for NPWS, and cutting into a tree on the far side of the fence is not a job to book privately.
Away from the park, a Bateau Bay tree follows Council's rules, and the 10/50 rule may apply to a lot the RFS online tool puts inside an entitlement area, checked on the day of clearing. Land within 100 metres of the coastline is excluded, which counts on the streets nearest Bateau Bay Beach, so check your own lot rather than a neighbour's.
Permits and Central Coast Council rules
Council's permit covers any tree 3 metres or taller unless an exemption applies, and in 2026-27 it costs $245 for up to two trees plus $129.50 for each extra tree, excluding GST. Council usually sends its Tree Assessment Officer within 10 working days of receiving an application and is to decide within 28 days, so a Bateau Bay job that needs a permit can mean waiting two to four weeks before any cutting.
